USDC on Solana or BNB Smart Chain: Which to Use to Pay for a VPS
10gbpsvps ·

Use the network your USDC is already on. Checkout accepts USDC on Solana and on BNB Smart Chain, and neither one is the right answer for everyone. What matters is that your wallet sends on the same network the invoice shows.
Two networks, one name
USDC on Solana lives on the Solana chain. USDC on BNB Smart Chain lives on BNB Smart Chain, where tokens follow the BEP-20 standard. They have the same name, but they are separate tokens on separate chains, and neither chain can see the other.
| Detail | Solana | BNB Smart Chain |
|---|---|---|
| Network line on the invoice | Solana | BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20) |
| Address | 32 to 44 letters and digits, never starts with 0x | 42 characters, starts with 0x |
| Network fee paid in | SOL | BNB |
| Exchanges often call it | Solana, SOL or SPL | BSC, BEP20 or BNB Smart Chain |
How to choose
If your USDC sits in a wallet on one network, pay on that network. Moving it to the other chain first means an extra transfer, an extra fee and one more chance of a mistake.
If it sits on an exchange that offers both, compare the withdrawal fee the exchange shows at that moment. We give no fee figures here. Network fees change with load, and each exchange sets its own withdrawal fee.
If you send from your own wallet, you need some of the chain's own coin to pay the network fee: SOL on Solana, BNB on BNB Smart Chain. A wallet holding only USDC may not be able to send it.
Before you create the invoice
Send soon after the invoice is made. An invoice that waits too long can expire, and the invoice page then tells you not to send to it. So do the slow parts first.
- Work out which network your USDC is on.
- Make sure you hold enough to cover the amount and the network fee.
- If you use an exchange, check that withdrawals are open and that it will not hold yours for review.
- Pick USDC on that network at checkout, and only then create the invoice.
Sending without a mistake
- Read the network line on the invoice. It says Solana or BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20).
- Select that same network in your wallet or on the exchange's withdrawal screen.
- Copy the address and paste it. Never type it. Then compare the first and last few characters with the invoice, because some malware swaps addresses on the clipboard.
- Check the format:
0xfor BNB Smart Chain, no0xfor Solana. - Check the amount that will arrive. Some exchanges take their fee out of the figure you enter, and then the address receives less than the invoice shows. Make sure the full invoice amount arrives.
The 0x trap
The format check does not catch everything. A 0x address also works on Ethereum and on other Ethereum-style networks. An exchange may accept the address and offer ERC-20 first. The address looks right and the transfer goes through, but it is on the wrong chain. Only the network name protects you here, so read it on the withdrawal screen. For a BNB Smart Chain invoice it must say BNB Smart Chain, BSC or BEP-20.
If you send on the wrong network
Treat the money as lost. The invoice warns that coins sent on another network can't be recovered, and other services describe the same problem:
- Coinbase says it cannot reject a deposit of crypto it does not support, and that blockchains do not require a recipient to accept a deposit. It says some assets can be recovered and some cannot.
- Kraken says not all misrouted deposits can be recovered, and that this depends on blockchain immutability and other technical limits (page updated 21 September 2026).
SOL, BNB, TRX and XMR
Checkout also takes each chain's own coin: SOL on Solana, BNB on BNB Smart Chain, TRX on Tron and XMR on Monero. The same rules apply. Send each one only on its own network, to the address on the invoice. USDT is not accepted, on Tron or on any other network.
Monero is the slowest of these. Monero's source code sets a target of one block every 2 minutes, and received funds become spendable after 10 blocks, about 20 minutes. Expect an XMR payment to take at least that long to show as received.
All accepted coins and the steps at checkout are on the crypto payment page. When your wallet is ready, choose a plan.
